Honestly, I should be sleeping right now. But, I can’t.

I am way too thrilled and excited for this post.

Disclaimer:

I am getting nothing from this post and it is not sponsored in any way shape or form.

I have been on a major hunt for a tulle skirt. I have been searching high and low. I have found the exact one I want..sadly, the cost is just too high and my poor(no pun intended) budget doesn’t allow it.

Anyways, on my journey to finding the perfect, yet affordable tulle skirt…I found @thetulleproject on Instagram. I wasn’t sure who she was or anything at the time. I clicked on her name and started browsing through her feed. I loved her photos. She looked so happy in her twirly skirts and I couldn’t help but take an interest in what was going on in her world.

I clicked on numerous pictures and started to piece her story together.

I seriously fell in love with her feed! The fact that she wanted something and went after it was incredible to me. I reached out to her and got to have a little conversation with her.

(I mean, look how adorable!)

I am going to post her story.

“This summer, I was walking around Chicago with a friend and I saw a family with two little girls wearing tutus and I told my friend, “Why can’t I wear tutus every day, like little girls can?” She replied: “Why can’t you?” That stuck in my head. Little girls want what they want, they dream and play, and they don’t worry about what other people think.

I had recently completed #‎100DaysOfHandlettering for the #‎100DayProject on Instagram (started by@elleluna and @greatdiscontent). It was an amazing experience—I tried something new, I did it everyday, and felt so affirmed by it. I was part of a community online. I felt like I belonged. I made new real life friends from it, and it definitely added a new skill to my graphic design tool box.
I was ready for a new project to inspire and energize me!
People have often told me I am one of the most positive people they know. I used to brushed it off, but I’m just realizing this might be one of my gifts, so I’m owning it! When I saw those girls in tutus, it got me thinking. Every girl who’s ever worn a tutu or a princess dress knows that when you’re dressed in sparkles, ruffles, and poofy, pretty things, it feels like EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE! #everythingispossible
And so, the Tulle Project was born. My goal is to spread more positivity, empower and inspire women to dream, have more fun, and take more risks.
Here is how it works: every day this fall, from Sept. 23rd through December 21st I will be wearing a tulle skirt. That’s 100 days of tulle outfits! I’ll post pictures on Instagram everyday.
I want to feel like those little girls in the street, dreaming like anything is possible, free to be and play and feel whatever I want, to discover my own boundaries, connect deeply with other women, take more risks, and hopefully inspire others to do the same.
Follow me here @TheTulleProject to see my journey, and share your dreams, struggles, stories.

Let’s go be fabulous today!

Please tell me this isn’t awesome? Because I know I think it is!

I believe we all need some confidence like her. I believe we can be whatever we want to be. The world is full of incredible and endless opportunities. We must chase our dreams and we must keep striving to be better than we were yesterday.

So, why don’t you go over and check The Tulle Project out as well?

We all need a little empowerment in our lives..whatever that is to you. Go get it.

Thanks for reading,

Lex

  1. I know Silvana!! She is just as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. She truly loves life and these photos capture her personality perfectly!!

  2. I’m with the person who says maybe the tulle skirts would have helped with a Cubs win? That would have been nice. But seriously, the skirts are adorable and I love the one with the polka dots. I’m definitely beyond my tulle wearing years, but if you want to wear one, go for it!

    1. Haha! Lots of cub fans! 🙂 go Braves 😉 even though they make the most interesting decisions 😂 and I’m sure you could pull off tulle!!!

I feel this way in sneakers and jeans. Or yoga pants. This feeling comes from within not from what you’re wearing. That’s the lesson we need to promote.

    1. Di I’m the same way. I feel the most confident in workout clothes as silly as that may seem. 🙂 but I feel like I can take on the world in my black leggings and giant shirt with a pair of boots! Bam!

  4. The skirts are too cute! I love her story. It’s true as long as you feel confindent in who you are and what you’re wearing you will feel like you can conquer anything.

  5. Ok so much love for all of this!!!! I am tulle obsessed!!! I was actually picking out a pattern to make my daughter a dress for a holiday party earlier!
